Hi Susie
Congratulations on your decision to move to Cyprus. It's a lovely place.
1) It is a big step as you say, and for that reason, I would recommend not selling your house yet, until you have lived here for a year or two at least. I raised the cash from equity release and still own my home in the UK - I moved over a year ago. as long as you tell them the house will not be unoccupied for more that 3 months at a time you should be ok.
The best and most expensive place to live in Paphos area is Tala Village. The most reasonably priced and beautful place is Argaka. It's a little remote just now, but a new motorway is under construction and due for completion next year. It links Paphos main town to Polis / Argaka.
As British Citizen you can spend 3 months in any 6 months as a visa free visitor.
If you are European / Irish you have a right to relocate under European Law.
Property prices are rising faster now in Cyprus than the UK, so consider your plans.
Where to start ? The housing market 'lifts off' last week of April until end of October. So its worth a visit in April / May and looking at what is around for your budget.
Older cars are not welcome in Cyprus and effectively taxed off the road as there are far too many of them. So budget for a car less than 2 years old . Buying in Cyprus is easier than importing your own car which is quite time consuming.
I have not found a step by step guide but I have found a great Solicitor in Paphos. The team were mostly educated in UK Universities and speak excellent English. Here is the link

Good luck
