Repeat medication

Hi everyone,
Just joined because we want to move to Paphos area possibly next year. My wife is 68 years young and I am 62. We are both on repeat medication. I believe to get repeat meds we need a medical card but we need residency to get this which could take up to 12 months to get? How would we get our meds. My wife is drawing state pension so she could get the S1 form but I would have to get private insurance. Any advice would be much appreciated.
